I share a somewhat similar vision. Either an eco village self sustained community (small one) or further away and just 2-3 people.
As a few years ago I came back to my country (Greece) which has wonderful climate I've been thinking of doing it here.
The difficulty lies in finding people to share it with. Everybody likes the idea but ...somehow they cant do it now but later..The reasons they give are plenty.
I know I cant do it alone as I do not posess all the knowledge needed.
I saw your profile and noticed you are pretty young.How will you solve the issue of purchasing the land? Yearly taxes? Possible sickness and need of hospitalisation?
Please do not misunderstand my questions because I adore your vision but in my country you cant just go to the forest and live. You need to purchase the land,you need building permission even for cob etc etc.
Forgive me for raising these questions but these are issues I'm dealing with now and I'd appreciate feedback.

I dont see those as issues. This is a New Earth/New Age Community, so it's a little, well, a lot different than the "old ways". Whether I'm old or young it remains the same.
Something is happening to Earth & everything living on this planet. Some people havent reached it's realization yet, but it's happening to them too. People are becoming aware, waking up, & seeing the destructive mind patterns in our society. They're beginning to realize that a certain group of people have assumed control over the lives & minds of the masses. & that have set limitations that have been passed down for generations. Not to mention throwing in all this trash (television & radio etc) to help keep people blinded. And people are beginning to see past it. This planet & the people living here, are capable of so much more. Everyone Dreams of Peace, well the only time is Now. It will only ever be Now.

At night when I look up into the vast universe all around us, it's proof enough for me.
I'm reminded of a certain quote by the Suquamis::

How can you buy or sell the sky, the warmth of the land? The idea is strange to us.
If we do not own the freshness of the air and the sparkle of the water, how can you buy them?
Every part of this earth is sacred to my people. Every shining pine needle, every sandy shore, every mist in the dark woods, every clearing and humming insect is holy in the memory and experience of my people. The sap which courses through the trees carries the memories of the red man.
The white man's dead forget the country of their birth when they go to walk among the stars. Our dead never forget this beautiful earth, for it is the mother of the red man. We are part of the earth and it is part of us. The perfumed flowers are our sisters; the deer, the horse, the great eagle, these are our brothers. The rocky crests, the juices in the meadows, the body heat of the pony, and man --- all belong to the same family.
There are plenty of places on the Earth where you can live peacefully, freely with the planet. Why make it a problem?
Money is an illusion-an erroneous perception of reality. Live without money & you free yourself from the delusion that you need it to Live.

As I said before, When I look up at night into the vast universe all around us.. That's proof enough for me.
=] I'm glad to see so many people wanting to live close to Earth. If you still see it as a problem, you could always live in an ecovillage that has already established or help them pay for land.

I totally agree on all you are saying.
I see it, I feel it,I know it.
However i have a bit of difficulty with

Care to give me an example?
As for the solution u r offering I'm researching it.
I also started talking to people here and I see more response..or rather they are more open/prone to start to research it further.
Somehow I'll find a way to do it even here not that I have difficulty to go abroad as I've lived most of my life in different countries.
What amazes me is that the system does not allow you to get off the system easily..at least here..

Wow, I've never looked at Greece on a map until now.. I can see where you're coming from, it looks like there's no where to get away around there. But it looks like there are a lot of small villages.. Which could be interesting.
I apologize, because in Canada we have a lot of large forested areas. You just have to be able to go far enough away from the nearest town or city.
If your interested in ecovillages, I think Ic.org & GEN(Global Ecovillage Network) are the best. You can probably find some similar directories through the internet. Hopefully you'll be able to find a place you like in Greece. =]
What other countries are you interested in if you had to go abroad?
